A Bit About Me
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Geoff Inverarity writes poetry for people who don't usually like poetry (and those who usually do). He received an LLB and MA (Hons) from the University of Aberdeen, his PhD in English Literature from Queen's University, Kingston, and an MFA from the University of British Columbia.
He's taught Literature and Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia, won awards for his screenplays, poetry, and non-fiction prose, and was a regular stand up poetry performer at Vancouver's legendary Tongue of the Slip shows.
He's the founder of the Gulf Islands Poetry Festival, a founding member of the Gulf Islands Film and Television School, former board member of two Affordable Housing societies, and is currently the President of the Galiano Island Literary Festival Society.
His poetry collection, All the Broken Things, was published by Anvil Press, in 2021. It was a finalist for the Canadian Authors Association Book of the Year.
